Squad Eireann who are officially training for 6 months in Septmeber, travelled to Cowdenbeath Karate Club Championships in Scotland 5th through 8th of September to participate. It was a fantastically run event, and Sensei Gordon Maxwell, Sensei Neill, Gordon's Angie, Neil's Angie and all involved should be commended on a very successful and fair event. The order of events was excellently organised and the judges were very fair indeed.
We were entertained with demonstrations from Cowdenbeath Karate Club's own Tei Tigers group, a local Muai Thai - Kickboxing Group, and the Dunfermline Karate Group who demonstrated a fantastic Team Kata.
One of the highlights of the event for us was the Team Kumite (Sparring) Event between Cowdenbeath Karate Club and the JKS Dunfermline. It was a fantastic challenge and I think a few cases of laryngitis developed in the congregation from all our shouting and support!
Below is a list of our achievements.
Senior Team Kumite (Sparring)
| 1st | Cowdenbeath Karate Club |
| 2nd | JKS |
Junior Team Kumite (Sparring)

Congratulations to Robert Dusoswa for his efforts
And Congratulations to Sinead Collins for her spirit and support over the weekend
A special thank you to all the parents and those who travelled to support Squad Eireann on the trip.
We wish to Thank Cowdenbeath Karate Club and hope to extend the same experience to them on their visit to us for our next round of the Celtic Cup in Kenmare Dojo, October 3rd - 5th, 2008.
!!!Congratulations!!!
Congratulations to David McAuliffe, Damien & Kieran Dalton who represented Squad Eireann Killarney in the World Martial Games this past weekend. Damien and Dave had some tough challenges and represented Ireland with utmost dignity and we should all be honoured to have such role models in our presence. Damien received a Silver Medal in Kata (Forms).
We wish to Congratulate in particular Kieran Dalton (Squad Eireann Killarney Brown Belt) who is only 7 years of age and won Gold in Both Kata (Forms) and Kumite (Sparring) beating the USA in a very challenging competition. Kieran also earned the rank of 4th in the World Games in the Ultimate Kata Championship Final, against competitors up to 7 years his senior! Kieran works extremely hard and deserves these titles. We expect to see many great things from Kieran and the rest of Squad Eireann over the upcoming years.
Squad Eireann return home with a total of 13 medals. Well done to all involved.

Well Done Willie!!!

After more than 30 continuous years of service and dedication to the Martial Arts, Willie (3rd Dan) one of our friends in Cowdenbeath Karate Club, Scotland has finally decided to hang up his mitts. We wish him all the best and hope that he will come to Ireland in the near future with the Cowdenbeath Teams.
